As of today the cause of Sukhoi Superjet 100 accident is not yet known we are not certain whether or not the content of black box of an ill-fated Russian-made Sukhoi Superjet 100, which crashed on Mount Salak, on Wednesday (9/5/2012) will be made public.
There is some analysis regarding the cause of the crash. Some mentioned it was related to mystical aura around Mount Salak that can draw any plane flying over it. But perhaps the analysis based on scientific standpoint was the one that could well be accepted. The experts predicted that Sukhoi Superjet 100 crashed into a cliff of Mount Salak because the pilot tried to avoid cumub nimbus cloud that towered as high as 37,000 feet. Logically, the pilot would not rise to the height of more than 37,000 feet as it was too high to reach. The safer and easier way was to fly either to the right, left, or down. The decision to ask for a permission to go down was probably based on the above possibility but was too late to take mountainous areas into account. Mount Salak itself that Sukhoi Superjet 100 crashed on towers to the height of over 6,000 feet.
What was strange was that by the time the pilot asked for a permission to go down, the communication between the pilot and Air Traffic Control was lost. This probably means that by the time the pilot contacted Air Traffic Control, the plane had already been at the altitude of 6,000 feet, while Mount Salak is over 6,000 feet tall. This explained the loss of a contact as it might have collided with a cliff when the communication was under way.
The above analysis was only based on weather satellite data used to give a temporary answer. Not base on unfounded speculations. Comprehensive analysis of other factors of course the flight recorders, which is being analyzed by the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC), though of course the weather factor should be taken into account.
