REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -- Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) Toll Road will be completed for six kilometers only or until Caringin by December 2017.
“The progress of our work will reach Caringin by December this year,” said the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and People Housing, Ari Setiadi Moerwanto during his visit to Sukabumi on Tuesday (7/11).
Ari added that Bocimi Toll will also be inaugurated in December this year. He said that Phase 1, namely Bogor-Cigombong will not be completed until March 2018. “As for the toll road up to Cigombong we prepare it for Eid al Fitr next year," he said.
Overall, the 53.6 km Bocimi Toll connects Bogor Regency, Bogor City, Sukabumi Regency, and Sukabumi City.
The construction is carried out in three packages by PT Waskita Karya, PT Wijaya Karya and PT Posco E n C Indonesia. The construction of this toll road will cost around Rp5.4 trillion.
The Bocimi Toll project actually started in 1997 but has been abandoned since and by the end of 2015 it was restarted after three inaugurations, namely in April and December 2011, and the last one is in February 2015.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi assessed that Bocimi Toll is much needed to break down the congestion in Bogor-Sukabumi. "So, we really need this Bocimi Toll to reduce (traffic) density at Bogor to Sukabumi road segment," he said.
Meanwhile, a member of Commission V which was also representing people in West Java Election Area IV, Dewi Asmara requested the acceleration of Bocimi Toll work. "Our natural potential is less competitive because of the lack of supporting infrastructure, therefore we really need it to reduce inequality in the development," she said.
